Yea, thats true we did have a pool but it couldn’t be considered a perk if you were shy, because when I went there 65-68 (automechanics) we all had to swim naked. It’s not to cool when your hetero and goofing in the water, you go under and come up in the wrong place. Huh, Also we had to shower before and after pool and what a madhouse the locker room turned into with everyone in competition to see who could produce the biggest welt on the other guy by snapping wet towels. Hey, but in all seriousness pool was great fun. In Voci we had pool twice a week and sports the other three days. Half the day was spent in shop where in my shop, if you were tired, you could just lay on a creeper, get under a car and take a nap. Also the tool room had an upper loft where all these long rubber hoses for venting exhaust were stored, there might be three or more guys sleeping up there at any particular time. My teachers were Mr. Carter who was pretty cool and Mr. Lope who wasn’t. Of course I wasn’t the ideal student and hadn’t yet learned to take my education seriously but the guys who did really learned some valuable skills. It would be great to hear from some other guys from that era.

I Went to Vo-Tech, Graduated Class of 1982. the pool is definite. Swallowing your pride was an understatement, the boys locker room was on the main floor and you had to run down two flights of steps to get to the showers which was near the pool. The Girls locker room was in the pool room on the other side. When you had to take a shower and the gym teacher left the pool door open, the boys were fully visible to any girl who was near the pool. And no seperate stalls in the shower room either…There were four posts with four shower heads per post (gang showers)

  4. William L. Hans Sr. Says:
