  1. Ah…but is that really a bus? or a “trackless trolley”?

It’s a bus stop sign John. I remember two of these signs on each side of Westfield at 32nd Street when I was a kid. Check out the page “Getting Around – Then and Now” for some photos of some of the older bus models that use to run the Camden routes. The bus on the sign, however, could pass as a trackless trolley, given the two lines at the top of the bus, perhaps, they used the same sign for both, and just called it a “Bus” or “Trolley” station depending on what it was.

There was at one time a trolley line and tracks that ran down Westfield Avenue. I actually have a track spike from that old line, that my Dad found as a kid. It was always in my Dad’s tool box when we were growing up, and when anyone would ask about it, he’d say it was from the trolley tracks that use to run down Westfield.
